The UK's largest glowstick retailer, gets a new optimised website.
UKGlow, the UK's Largest Glowstick Retailer required some more web presence.
The company already has a website with a strong and distinctive design that couldn't (and shouldn't!) really be changed much to get the desired effect. This website, however, was written very badly with lots (read: too much) Javascript and images that were simply too heavy. Moreover, every piece of content on the pages was static, meaning any change made to the menu, for example, meant they would have to update all ~40 pages on the site!
As part of the redevelopment the primary aims were to 1; Increase Manageability, 2; Increase Visibility of website's content and key keywords, 3; Increase speed of website and 4; Rebuild to latest standards.
All of the key requirements have been met with the new development. The initial page size has been reduced by over half, Javascript is now used to enhance functionality that is already there, not create it in the first place - meaning that Google and other search engines will now see the website much clearer.
My "Kontent" Manage System was integrated so that the UK Glow team can easily manage their site, from page content, to categories, to the actual products and relationships themselves.
